Not Great: 2,000 Pounds Of Vienna Beef Hot Dogs Are Being Recalled Due To Metal Fragments
CBS - More than 2,000 pounds of Vienna Beef hot dogs are being recalled because they might contain metal fragments, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a news release. The potentially tainted ton of beef frank links was produced on May 2 and shipped to retailers in three states: Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana, the USDA said.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service urged consumers not to consume the recalled products, but throw away or return them to where they were purchased. The Food Safety and Inspection Service said the recalled beef frank links may already be in consumer refrigerators or freezers.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to eating the recalled hot dogs, but anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider, the FSIS said.
This is NOT the news you want to hear Memorial Day week.
I mean this is practically hot dog opening week and Vienna is now chilling on the disabled list. It’s the true equivalent to the whole Cubs roster getting the bird flu on the first day of the season. Could you imagine that? The the streets are filled, the organ’s playing, but then we get alerted that there’s no game because everybody is out with the bird flu. Would they have the AAA team take the bus in town to play? That’s essentially what we’re going to have to do if we have to resort to dog shit Ball Park this weekend.
To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a ploy by Ball Park. Some scumbag sneaks into the Vienna plant to sprinkle a couple shards of metal onto the conveyer belt. The timing is just too convenient for me to believe otherwise. If it happens on another day or another week then I can see it, but right before the holiday weekend is way too suspect.

P.S. – I hate to be that guy, but I wouldn’t hate a Rovell tweet that lets us know just how much money Vienna is going to lose because of this. Gotta be a shit ton, unfortunately.
